These are the rules for playing Parallel Kingdom Reborn (“the game”), a free-to-play, fan-built, location-based game run as a small independent project (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or playing, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not play.
1. Who can play
You must be 16 or older to create an account or play. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will close it and delete its data.
2. Your account
- Give an email address you control. We use it to confirm your account and to send you account messages.
- Keep your password to yourself, and do not use one you use anywhere else. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- Pick a username and character name that do not impersonate anyone (including us), and are not hateful, sexual or abusive. We may change or remove names that are.
- Have one account. Do not make or play a second one.
- Your account is yours alone. Do not sell, trade, share or lend it, and do not play on anyone else’s. You are responsible for everything done on it, including while someone else was using it, and a warning or ban stays with the account, whoever holds it next.
3. Playing safely in the real world
The game is played on a map of the real world, and it uses your device’s real location to decide where you begin. That makes a few things your responsibility:
- Stay aware of your surroundings. Never play while driving or riding, and never let the game lead you into traffic or anywhere unsafe.
- Do not go onto private property, or anywhere you are not allowed to be, because of something in the game.
- Other players can see your character and the things you build on the map, and those sit near real places. Think about what that reveals before you build near your home, and read the Privacy Policy for exactly what is shared.
- Never use the game to find, follow or turn up on another player in real life, and be careful about meeting anyone you only know from the game.
4. How to behave
These rules apply in the game and on its forum alike. Do not:
- harass, threaten, stalk or bully other players, or post anyone’s personal information, including where another player lives or plays in real life;
- post hateful, sexually explicit or illegal content, or anything that sexualises minors;
- cheat, including:
- faking where your device is, by any means: a location-spoofing app, a mock-location setting, your browser’s location override or developer tools, or a changed copy of the game;
- running the phone app in an emulator, or feeding it made-up sensor readings;
- using a modified, unofficial or third-party version of the game, or a tool that reads or changes how it runs;
- using bots, scripts or macros, or anything else that plays for you;
- exploit bugs. If you find one, report it through Feedback in the game or on the forum instead, and do not post how to repeat an exploit where other players can read it;
- spam, advertise, or post the same thing over and over;
- buy, sell or trade accounts, characters, items, Food or gold for real money or anything outside the game, other than buying Food from us as section 7 describes;
- attack, overload, probe or try to break into the game’s servers, or anyone else’s account;
- pretend to be us or speak on our behalf.
5. What you write in the game and on the forum
You are responsible for the chat messages, letters, names, feedback, forum posts, pictures, profiles and anything else you write or upload in the game or on its forum. You keep whatever rights you have in it, and you let us store, show and copy it as needed to run the game and the forum. Messages in global chat are also posted to a channel on our public Discord server, where people outside the game can read them, and the forum can be read by anyone, with or without an account. You post on the forum under your character’s name.
Only post what you have the right to share. Do not upload someone else’s art, writing or photos without their permission. If you think something on the forum infringes your rights, write to the address below, say what it is and where, and we will look at it and remove it if it does.
Private chats on the forum are private from other players, not from us: we may read them when one is reported or when we look into abuse.
We, and the moderators we choose, may edit, move or remove anything that breaks these terms, and may ban an account from the forum.
6. An unfinished game
The game is in early development. Rules, balance and prices change, sometimes between sessions. The server restarts for updates and is sometimes offline. Characters, items, buildings or whole parts of the world may be changed, reset or removed, and progress can be lost. We will try to warn players about big changes, but we cannot promise to.
7. Items, gold and purchases
Everything you earn or buy in the game, including Food, gold, items, buildings, land and characters, is part of the game and not your property: you have the use of it in the game. It has no value in real money and cannot be exchanged for money, and we do not owe you anything for it if it is changed or lost, except as our Refund Policy and the law say.
Buying Food. You can buy Food, the game’s premium currency, with real money, in the packs and at the prices on our Store page. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the merchant of record for all our orders: Paddle sells the pack to you, takes the payment, charges any tax and handles the payment side of refunds, and its own buyer terms apply to the payment as well.
- You must be 18 or older to buy, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.
- Food you buy is delivered straight away, as a letter in your in-game Messages, to the character on the account you bought it for. It does not expire. When you buy, you ask us to deliver it at once, and the checkout asks you to confirm that.
- Bought Food is ordinary Food: you may spend it, or sell it to other players for gold in the game. It cannot be moved to another account, or sold for real money.
- Refunds follow our Refund Policy. If a payment is refunded or reversed, the Food is taken back, and your Food balance can go below zero if some of it was already used.
- Packs and prices can change. A change never alters a purchase already made.
8. Suspending or closing accounts
We may warn, suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that puts other players or the game at risk, or ban it from the forum alone. Closing an account also closes its forum account.
For cheating we usually go in steps: a warning, then a suspension for a set time, then closing the account. Serious or repeated cheating can skip steps, straight to closing. One of us looks at what happened before any suspension or closure: no account is closed by a machine alone. An account closed for breaking these terms loses what was bought on it, without a refund.
To keep play fair, we check the game, the device it runs on and the information described in our Privacy Policy, and we may ignore or refuse a location that does not add up.
If you think we got it wrong, email [email protected] within 30 days of our decision, with your username, and we will look at it again.
You can stop playing at any time. You can deactivate your account in the game, under Options → Account: it is deleted 30 days later unless you sign in again with your password. You can also ask us to delete your account, or only your forum account, by writing to the address below.
9. Our game and the original
The game’s code and content belong to us. Do not copy or redistribute them without permission. Parallel Kingdom Reborn is an independent fan project inspired by the classic game Parallel Kingdom. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to PerBlue Entertainment or anyone else who owns rights in that game or its name. All trademarks belong to their owners. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors.
10. No warranty, and limits on liability
The game is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, lost progress or lost data, or for anything that happens to you in the real world while playing. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that the law says cannot be limited, including your rights as a consumer where you live.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. For a significant change, the game asks you to accept the new terms the next time you play, and you cannot play on until you do. For any other change, if you keep playing after it takes effect, you accept the new terms.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms or a purchase, or requests to close your account: [email protected].
The game is operated by SkyVeillance LLC.
